Looking for good food?

If you are looking for good food I have the perfect place for you. In the middle of the Rio de Janeiro´s downtown you can find a very different place, Besi.
Besi is a decor store that has a small restaurant inside. Besides their wonderful salads, all kind of sweets (brownies, cupcakes, cakes...), they have all kind of coffees. Its a very confortable e delicious place.

Adress: Rua do Carmo, 61 - Centro
How to get there: The easier way is to find how to get into Largo da Carioca. You can get a metro till there, get inside 7 de setembro street and walk untill do Carmo street. Its a very crowded place and I am sure a lot of people are willing to help.

Alternative fashion and music events

If you like cool t-shirts, vintage accessories and good indie music, Rio is starting to offer more options to enjoy this kind of style. I really like alternative places and fashion and I must say that it was hard to find places and specific parties. The Bazars and Street Markets are good options and monthly events in some areas of Rio.
If you are in the city this weekend, my tip is the MERCADO URBANO DE BOTAFOGO, or simply, MUB. This is going to be the third edition of the project that joins fashion, literature, urban art, delicious homemade cupcakes, brands of alternative clothes and live music.
This is a really good suggestion for all family too as there´s an area for kids.
So, if you are cool, trendy and want a nice event for a Sunday in Rio, you gotta check it out!
Dia 15/01, de 12h as 19h.
Rua Henrique de Novaes, Botafogo.

Tree Top Trekking

If you like to have contact with nature Rio de Janeiro is the right place for you. We have many options to relax, to have fun, to face your fears. Some days ago I was invited to face my fears too and for the first time I did a Tree Top Trekking.
The tree top is a radical sport that you have to cross obstacles in the top of trees.
Here in Rio you can find this radical sport in Parque da catacumba, Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas.
Parque da Catacumba was before a slum, the city administration cleaned the place and gave back to cariocas the forest that existed there before. Now you have a place divided in two parts. The first one you can find beautiful squares and places for children to play with esculptures of famous brazilian artists and the seconde prt, in the top, you can find different kind of animals that turned to the place they used to live before the slums. And in this top area you find radical sports like tree top and tyrolean. A fun and beautiful ride throught to the brazilian fauna.

Exploring Rio by bike

Rio recently got public bikes. Now you can explore Rio and be sustainable.
Ride bikes is something commom in countries like Denmark. It is ecologic, fun and you dont get stuck in the traffic

How to use the bikes:

Month: You have to register here: www.movesamba.com.br/bikerio (go to Menu and comprar passe) and it costs just 10,00 reais/ month

Day: You can use for 24 hours. You just need to go to one of the stations and call (21) 4063-3111 or (21) 3005 4316, put your credit card numbers. After you buy the pass you call the numbers again and say the number of the station and the number of the bike that u want to use and confirm. You will see a green light in the bike and thats it, now u can explore the city by bike.

If you just need to use it for less than 60 minutes, you can get it for free, if u keep the bike for more than 60 minutes you will have to pay 5,00 reais/ hour.

To give it back, you just need to put your bike in any free place of any station of the city. Just make sure its locked. If there is no space you can call 0800 8926650 or (21) 2221 7460 and they will help you find a free place.

Trying to help

Hi!!!

In my first post I decided to explain why I began to write a blog about Rio. I´ve always known a lot of foreign people and everytime we talked about the city they tell me the same thing "Rio is beautiful but I had difficulty to talk in english and to find things outside the touristic circuit" thats why I´m writing about my city and all I know about it. For sure I dont know everything but I will try to help with what I can.
